First, the Flame Fusion Process combines aluminum oxide with chromium at extremely high temperatures to produce ruby crystals. This method creates gemstones with vibrant color and excellent brilliance. However, rapid crystal growth may produce small gas bubbles.
Next, the Flux Growth Process grows ruby crystals slowly in a molten chemical solution called flux. As a result, the crystals develop growth patterns that closely resemble natural ruby. Consequently, Flux-grown rubies are preferred for applications that require a more natural appearance.
