Lab Created Ruby is a synthetic variety of Corundum (Al₂O₃) with a beautiful pink to deep blood-red color. It offers outstanding brilliance, excellent durability, and a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale. Therefore, it is an ideal gemstone for jewelry and industrial applications.
In ancient times, rubies were often considered more valuable than diamonds. According to Chinese legend, Emperor Kublai Khan offered an entire city in exchange for a single ruby. Some legends even claimed that placing a ruby in water would make the water boil.

Treatment
Manufacturers produce Lab Created Rubies using two primary methods. Both methods combine aluminum oxide with chromium to create the rich red color that characterizes ruby. However, each method produces gemstones with different growth characteristics.
Flame Fusion Method
The Flame Fusion method was the first successful process for producing synthetic corundum. During production, manufacturers melt aluminum oxide with chromium at extremely high temperatures. The molten material cools rapidly and forms ruby crystals within a few hours.
This process creates gemstones with excellent clarity and a bright appearance. However, the rapid growth often produces tiny gas bubbles and fewer inclusions than those found in natural rubies.
Flux Growth Method
The Flux Growth method requires significantly more time and may take up to six months to complete. During this process, manufacturers place the minerals into a molten chemical solution called flux. They carefully control the temperature and pressure so the crystals grow slowly.
As a result, Flux-grown rubies closely resemble natural rubies. They develop straight growth patterns and display characteristics that are similar to naturally formed gemstones.
