Manufacturers create Lab Created Ruby using two advanced crystal growth methods.
First, the Flame Fusion Process combines aluminum oxide with chromium at extremely high temperatures. This method produces gemstones with excellent color and brilliance. However, rapid crystal growth may create tiny gas bubbles.
Next, the Flux Growth Process grows ruby crystals slowly in a molten chemical solution called flux. As a result, the crystals develop natural-looking growth patterns that closely resemble those of natural ruby. Consequently, Flux-grown rubies are preferred when a more natural appearance is required.
